GRAHAM MARSH NATURE PRESERVE
Classroom In The Forest
On October 22, 2025, The Graham Marsh Nature Preserve proudly hosted Classroom in the Forest for local 5th graders in Choctaw County. Students from Choctaw Elementary, Patricia Academy, Southern Choctaw Academy, and Southern Choctaw Elementary School enjoyed a day filled with enriching activities led by dedicated presenters from the Choctaw County Soil and Water Conservation, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Choctaw County 4-H, Alabama Forestry Commission, Choctaw County Extension and more. Highlights included hands-on experiences like Enviroscape, Skins and Skulls, and a fun scarecrow coloring activity. The day concluded with a guided tour of the grounds and a invigorating trail walk led by Tony Graham, and a delightful picnic lunch. It was our sincere pleasure to share the beauty of nature and the Graham Marsh Nature Preserve with all the students, teachers, presenters, and volunteers in attendance. A special thanks to Mrs. Sharon Shepherd from the Soil and Water Conservation for organizing the event. Thanks also to The Choctaw Advocate.
